Tips for Casting Sand

To use casting sand you first need to make something called a mold. A Mold is an object or hollowed-out shape in which metal melts will fill when heated. Molds can be made from various types of material. Molds are typically made of wood, metal, or plastic. Depending on which material you use, they create a different effect in the end. Once you have your mold prepared, it is time to make some casting sand. Wetting the sand with a binding agent helps to strengthen it so that it retains its shape when molten metal is poured into the mold. Often, this mixture is termed green sand. This blend of the sand and binding agent together will ensure that this mix is hard enough to keep under Boqiao BQ melting furnace once hot metal hits it.
